HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Join me for a Sweet Soirée, where a night of treats, tricks, and peculiar surprises await! This is my first Halloween in my cheap old house, and after uncovering the stories of its previous owners, they might just make an appearance tonight to help me throw the ultimate vintage Halloween bash. Keep an eye out for three familiar faces (The Deadly Dames) who are sure to bring the a melodic chill down your spine. ----- RECIPES HALLO-WITCH CAKE Makes 1 witch and 12 cupcakes 1 box spice cake mix1 cup all-purpose flour1 cup granulated sugar1/4 tsp salt3 eggs1 cup whole milk1 cup sour cream1 cup canned pumpkin2 tsp vanilla extract Mix until just combined. Do not use a mixer or it will get tough. Bake for 30-35 mins for the cake and 23-26 for the cupcakes. CREAM CHEESE RUSSIAN BUTTERCREAM 3 sticks unsalted butter (softened) 6oz cream cheese (softened) 1 cup sweetened condensed milk -------- COAL MINERS HARVEST STEW 2 lbs boneless beef chuck, cut into cubes 2 tablespoons all purpose flour 2 celery stalks, 2 garlic cloves, minced 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1 Tbsp brown sugar 1/2 tablespoon minced ginger 1/4 cup olive oil 1 medium onion, chopped 1 can chopped green chilies 3 bay leaves 2 cans fire roasted tomatoes 1 tablespoon tomato paste 1 lb./ 450g butternut squash, peeled and cubed 4 medium carrots, peeled and cut in rounds 2 cups chicken stock fresh parsley chopped to garnish salt and pepper Tip: simmer without the carrots and butternut squash for 50 mins.
